WorkCover

Equipment that has a higher level of risk or harm associated with its operation, use or maintenance must be registered with WorkCover. Inclinators are considered to be grouped in this type of equipment. By law all inclinators must be registered with WorkCover. Registration can be held by the owner, lessee or a nominated controller of the inclinator. In most cases it’s the owner who holds the registration however in some cases a secondary party may be the controlling party. Not many people realise it is possible to change the registered controller of your inclinator.

Your inclinator must be in good working order or WorkCover can shut it down and you’re left hiking up stairs. If your inclinator has been decommissioned it can be fixed and recommissioned. If your inclinator is repairable and fixed then inspected by a competent person and redeemed safe to operate, you’re back up and running.

Also many people don’t know that an alteration to your inclinator requires that it be re-registered with WorkCover. However an alteration does not include routine maintenance, repair or replacement (eg painting, changing design of controls or gauges equivalent to the original specifications or changing components equivalent to the original design).
